Thomas A. Dixon Observation Area

The B&A Trail terminates at Dorsey Road in Glen Burnie, where the BWI Trail begins. The BWI Trail is a 12-mile asphalt loop that goes all the way around BWI Airport. Thomas A. Dixon, Jr. Aircraft Observation Area is a parking area and playground on Dorsey Road in Glen Burnie. This circle trail offers several beautiful vantage points of BWI Airport. You may reach the Linthicum Light Rail Station by taking the trail that branches off from BWI Trail at Andover Road.

The airplanes are the park's primary selling point, the reason visitors venture here. If you have young children who enjoy climbing, they will enjoy the tiny playground that was refurbished not too long ago. The BWI and B&A path are nearby for those who like to ride bikes or walk. There is a porta-potty and a sufficient amount of parking space. The address is 1911 Dorsey Road, Glen Burnie, Maryland 21061 if you want to plug it into your GPS system.

Special event applications from nonprofit organizations must be submitted 60 days in advance of the intended date in order to be considered for use of the BWI Trail. The Thomas A. Dixon, Jr. Aircraft Observation Area is too popular and has too few parking spots to host large events.

The Thomas A. Dixon, Jr. Observation Area is located in the east, therefore that's the direction you should take. Take Exit 15 off Route 50 and turn east onto Route 176 (Dorsey Road) to reach the Airport. If you keep going along Rte 176, the Observation Area will be on your left before you reach WB&A Road. On the BWI Trail, you can choose between two parking areas. The first is in Saw Mill Creek Park, and the second is at the Thomas A. Dixon, Jr. Aircraft Observation Area.

The airport playground has reopened after a renovation. Dorsey Road provides parking and trailhead access to the BWI path. The trail begins at the playground and continues through the woods, providing welcome relief from the sun on warm days. The area is ideal for cyclists and pedestrians.

Planes arriving or taking off from BWI Airport pass directly overhead of the playground, which is located directly across Dorsey Road from the airport. Seeing the planes up near and personal is a great experience for kids. When they take off, the noise level can be extremely high. You may reach the Linthicum Light Rail Station by taking the trail that branches off from BWI Trail at Andover Road. Check out Arundel Mills.
